Tyler Rollins Fine Art it pleased to present Trans–Figuration, a group show of works by some of the leading artists of Southeast Asia that explore the interconnectedness of form and figure. The works hover between representation of the figure, human or otherwise, and a tendency towards abstraction inspired by natural and geometric forms. The figure is conceived as a concrete embodiment of psychological or spiritual states, and it is often shown in a state of transformation from one state to another. References are made to Islam, Buddhism, Christianity, and Hinduism – all the major spiritual traditions of the region. Hailing from eight countries, the artists work in a wide variety of media, including painting, sculpture, photography, textiles, and drawing.
